Mikayla LaShae Bartholomew as Celeste

There is something to being black, to being womxn and to taking up space, so that those around you and after you may do the same. It is a form of activism that can never be denied and it is one of the undeniable truths laid out in Pure.

Mikayla LaShae Bartholomew received her BFA in Theatre from Virginia Commonwealth University. Aside from Pure, Mikayla recently starred alongside Will Smith in the Warner Bros. Studios film, King Richard, in the role of Tunde Price, the eldest sister of Venus and Serena Williams. She also is an extraordinary activist working closely with The Broadway Advocacy Coalition to help effect change within the arts.

Her additional credits include “Bayano” (National Black Theatre) “Babes in the Woods” (Signature Theatre), “A Doll’s House Part 2” (Maltz Jupiter Theatre), “LORDES” (New Ohio Theatre), “The Cherry Orchard," “The Gift That Aches”, and “The Code” for CBS.
